North East Women's Football: Manipur Sangais, Sikkim Pandas book semi-final berth

The last league matches will be played on Wednesday with Arunachal Pradesh Tigers taking on Mizoram Black Bears at 12.30 pm and Meghalaya Leopards facing Nagaland Wild Hogs at 3 pm.

Manipur Sangais sailed into the semi-final, beating Meghalaya Leopards by a solitary goal in the 1st North East Women's Football Tournament 2022 played at SAI NERC Turf Ground at Takyelpat, Imphal West.

With an unbeaten run in the league, Manipur Sangais took great pride in taking the field but it took some time to open up in the game until N Priyanka found the gap in the 22nd minute to slam home the lone winning goal for the smooth victory.

Manipur recorded six wins and one drawn game, collecting a total of 19 points in the league, enroute to the semi-final. Meghalaya Leopards are reeling with 7 points and their fate could be known after the completion of the league round tomorrow.

In the other match, Sikkim Pandas overcame Arunachal Pradesh Tigers by 3-2 goals, to book their semi-final berth as well.

With the win, Sikkim Pandas now have 17 points from five wins and two drawn games while Arunachal Pradesh Tigers have 9 points from three wins and three lost matches.

For the winning Sikkim Pandas, Naocha struck two goals while Signorina fetched one goal. The two goals for AP Tigers were made by Kai Rumi and Tamchi Soram in the second half. Sikkim player U Pusparani and AP Tiger player Tamchi Yapi got yellow cards in the match for reckless tackles.
