North East Women's Football: Manipur Sangais emerge champion
Manipur Sangais beat Sikkim Pandas by 2-0 goals in the final match of the 1st North East Women's Football League 2022.

Manipur Sangais leaped in style, winning the coveted title of in the 1st North East Women's Football League 2022 after beating Sikkim Pandas by 2-0 goals in the match played at SAI RC Turf Ground Takyelpat, Imphal West.
The grand finale of the meet as anticipated was a cool affair as both teams were ever on the lookout for opportunity rather than shedding sweat and minimising risking injury. With good crowd support, Manipur Sangais raised their game in the dying moment of the first half and were lucky to get a bonus break from a goalmouth melee with Sikkim player H Sunita, who was trying to dispose a dangerous move, conceded an own goal in the 36th minute, providing the host team lead.
With a goal in their kitty, Manipur Sangais worked much harder in the second half play and got rewarded when Y Pakpi pushed home the winning goal in the 58th minute to seal the fate of Sikkim Pandas, who had to contend with the runners up title.
Manipur Sangais player W Lingthoinganbi got a yellow card in the match for time wasting in the match.
Sikkim Pandas player Naocha was handed down the Golden Boot award from the organiser for her persistent scoring ability in the tournament. She scored seven goals and assisted three of her team goals.
Wangkhei legislator Thangjam Arunkumar Singh along with Anantpura Sports Events Pvt Ltd and All Manipur Football Association officials distributed medals to the players and trophies to the team.
