The first phase of a football development programme initiated for displaced children of relief camps by Bangalore-based Football Club, NEYFC, in collaboration with Imphal-based NGO, Ya_all, on October 26 ended successfully on Saturday.

NEYFC founder Jona Thanjam, along with his team, arrived from Bangalore to execute the programme, stated a release.

An exhibition match ‘NEYFC Inter Relief Camp Trophy 2023’ was also held at Play 7 arena, Mayaikoibi during the valedictory event, it stated.

Three participating teams namely Team Sagolmang, Team Lamboikhongnangkhong and Team Langol for children aged 12 years and above participated in the match, it mentioned.

The inmates expressed happiness upon such initiative and expressed desire for many such opportunities in the future, it added. 

Mention may be made that under the first phase, the collaborating teams cleaned up and developed a Football ground at Lamboikhongnangkhong, provided football kits, conducted crash football sessions, reached out to various relief camps located at Langol, Sagolmang, Wangoo, Lamboikhongnangkhong and Kakching among others.
