YAS Minister Govindas Konthoujam on Wednesday announced that "North East's Aero Sports Hot Air Balloons and Para-motors Fiesta 2023", India's first-ever event in the history of Aero-Sports category, will be launched on February 11, 2023.
The fiesta brought by Khasia Ventures in collaboration with Capt Imochaoba Singh, the only instructor of Hot Air Balloons having FIR license issued by DGCA, will be held for seven days at Phubala Public Ground (near Loktak Lake), Bishnupur district.
Govindas, during the announcement of the festival at Hotel Imphal in Imphal East, pointed out that despite the state having great potential in every sector, most of the people of the state seem to be unaware of its value.
He said organising such aero sports festivals will be a boon for the tourism sector as many foreign tourists are attracted to such aero sports. Development of a state is not only the responsibility of the government but there is a need for participation of the public in developmental progress, he said.
Manipur is lucky to have organised such an innovative festival, he said, adding that the state government will extend all possible aid to make the fiesta a grand success.
Captain Imochaoba Singh informed the media that hot air balloon and para-motors are one of the safest air sports and the hot air balloon will have both the facilities of threading and free-fly.
Managing director of Khasia Ventures, P Aristotle stated that the fiesta will become as much of an icon for Northeast India and the vision of the fiesta lies in the youth of the state.
He said that given a platform to experience aero sports, the youths will be able to choose a career in aero sports and various extreme and adventuristic sports as a future career.
Through this fiesta, the state's tourism expansion and inflow of tourists will be more effective than before, he said, adding this will directly assist in creating an income generating asset for the people of the state.
"We also have a strong desire to promote our local markets by bringing in domestic and international tourists to our state in a quest to uplift the state's economy as well as lighten our living. We all need to venture out not to get away from life, but rather for life not to get away from us," he added.
The managing director lastly sought the support of all the stakeholders and the general public in organising the festival successfully.
