A felicitation programme for successful students and sportspersons from Nongpok Sekmai region was organised by the North Eastern Sporting Association (NESA) at the club’s field at Nongpok Sekmai under Heirok assembly constituency in Thoubal district on Sunday.
The event was attended by Heirok MLA Thokchom Radheshyam as the chief guest, Khun Committee president Yumkhaibam Bhananjoi as president along with Thoubal Zilla Parishad upa adakshya T Nungshi Singh, retired teacher Thokchom Chourjit, Shikhong Sekmai Municipal Council Ward No IV former councillor Yumlembam Indrajit and Ward No III former councillor Ahongsangbam Chandramani as the guests of honour.
On the occasion, chief guest Thokchom Radheshyam stressed the importance of maintaining and conserving culture, respect and good behaviour in one’s life. He commended NESA for organising such initiatives to encourage the value of good morals to the youth of the region.
He mentioned that the Heirok assembly constituency has produced many talented sportspersons and artists, encouraging the people to nurture and hone such talents for the betterment of the assembly constituency.
MLA Th Radheshyam also mentioned that a Bank, Gym and a separate SDC office will be established at Nongpok Sekmai soon.
In the felicitation programme, NESA presented the awards to 12 students who were successful in the recent BOSEM examination for Class X; 10 students who were successful in the recent COHSEM examination for Class XII; goalkeeper of team India in the recent Under 17 Women World Cup 2022 Keisham Melody, daughter of K Tomba and Ranjana from Nongpok Ingourok; gold medallist in the 6th International Karate Championship Yumkhaibam Rabisan, son of Yoykumar and Memtombi from Nongpok Sekmai along with silver medalist Oinam Nungsithoi, daughter of Oinam Henthoisana and Kananbala from Nongpok Sekmai Shikhong Keithel.
