Meghalaya Leopards came up with the second win beating Mizoram Black Bears by 2-1 goals in the 1st North East Women's Football Tournament 2022 played at SAI NERC Turf Ground at Takyelpat, Imphal West.
Meghalaya Leopards now have 7 points from two win, one draw and two lost games while Mizoram Black Bears have lost all their five matches in the league to occupy the bottom slot.
Mizoram looked convincing in the beginning as Zonuntluangi scored the opening goal in the 14 minute to take the lead. However, Meghalaya jumped back into the game and Nisilia Majaw fetched the equaliser in the 25 minute to level 1-1 goal. With better attacking strategy, Meghalaya Leopards consolidated its position when Sunalinda bring up the winning goal in 80 plus 3 minute for the victory today.
Meghalaya Leopards players Bethsheba, Sunalinda and Mizoram Black Bears players K Lalhruaizeli, Lalthansangi got yellow cards in the match.
In the second match, Assam Rhinos hold on Sikkim Pandas by 1-1 goals to share a point each. Naocha delivers the break for Sikkim team in 31 minute of play and later Sonia Marak fetched the equaliser for Meghalaya in 68 minute. Sikkim player Sriya Thapa got yellow card in the match.
In tomorrow's matches, Tripura Pythons will face Nagaland Wild Hogs in first match while Arunachal Pradesh Tigers will meet Manipur Sangais in the second match.
