Manipur Sports Snippets: Wushu Trial on August 16, 17

Selected players will represent the Manipur team in the 21st Junior Wushu National Championship to be held at Calicut, Kerala from September 5-10, 2022.

The Wushu Committee Manipur (WAM) has informed all its district president and secretaries under WAM that the state team open trial will be held on August 16-17 at 8 am at SAI Multipurpose Hall, Takyelpat.

Selected players will represent the Manipur team in the 21st Junior Wushu National Championship to be held at Calicut, Kerala from September 5-10, 2022.

YDO Lamdong win in opener

YDO Lamdong blanked CHIKL Chajing by 4-0 goals in the opening match of the 22nd S Birendra Singh Memorial Super Division Football League, 2022 organised by the Imphal West District Football Association at SKYC Ground, Awang Sekmai.

CHIKL player Thankhalen conceded an own goal while Th Kishan, L Gogocha and N Olen scored a goal each for YDO Lamdong team to collect full points. YDO player E Akash and CHIKL player Y Oliver got yellow cards in the match.

The next match will be played on Tuesday between host SKYC Awang Sekmai and NC Club, Khonghampat at 2.15 pm.

IWDBA rules in inter district badminton

Kasparov Ahanthem of Imphal West District Badminton Association registered his win in the Boys Single of Junior Mixed Team in 39th Inter District Badminton Championship 2022 played at Indoor Hall, DM College Campus.

Kasparov had no difficulty in taming E Richard of KDBA by 21-16 and 21-15 points. In the Girls Single, Leonie Tayenjam beat Sagorika Naorem by 21-11 and 21-8 points while the Imphal West pair of Ch Ritesh and K Nganba beat KDBA pair K Dayananda and M Bikash by 19-21, 21-12, 21-16 points.

Hockey Manipur condole death of Joy Singh

The Hockey Manipur has condoled the sudden and untimely demise of its joint secretary, Huidrom Bisholal (Joy) Singh of Yaiskul Hiruhanba Leikai, Imphal West on Saturday.

Joy Singh breathed his last at GNRC Hospital, Guwahati on Saturday and is survived by his wife and two daughters. The Hockey Manipur described the late Joy Singh as polite, sincere, brave warrior for justice and rational thinking gentleman and termed his demise as a great loss not only for his family but to the hockey fraternity.
