Imphal West District clinched the Team Champion title of 2nd Manipur Olympic Games 2022 organised by Manipur Olympic Association concluded on Tuesday.
The MOG 2022, which was a five-day sporting extravaganza held in various parts of the state, saw Imphal West District finishing on top with 103 gold, 96 silver, 70 bronze medals for the overall Team Champion title.
Imphal East District took the Runners Up spot collecting 99 gold, 84 silver, 89 bronze medals while Bishnupur District got the third spot, winning 65 gold, 31 silver, 40 bronze medals, Thoubal District fetched 18 gold, 43 silver, 45 bronze medals and Kakching District with 15 gold, 31 silver, 35 bronze medals in the top five.
Senapati District collected 5 gold, 4 silver, 7 bronze medals while Ukhrul District got 1 gold, 3 silver, 15 bronze medals, Jiribam District with 1 gold, 2 bronze medals, Churachandpur District with 4 silver. 4 bronze medals, Chandel District with 1 silver, 9 bronze medals, Tamenglong District with 1 silver, 4 bronze medals, Tengnoupal District with 1 silver, 2 bronze medals and Kangpokpi District with 1 silver, 2 bronze medals.
Sportspersons from three districts, including Kamjong, Pherzawl and Noney failed to get any medals in the games.
The Men's hockey Champion title of the meet was bagged by Imphal East District beating Bishnupur District by 5-1 goals played at Hockey Stadium Khuman Lampak today. The third place was claimed by Imphal West District thrashing Thoubal by 5-0 goals.
As for the Women's hockey, Imphal East District took the Champion title, beating Imphal West District by a solitary goal. The third spot was taken by Bishnupur District beating Thoubal District by 5-0 goals.
The Kho-Kho Champion title in the Boys category was won by Thoubal District while Tengnoupal District took the Runners Up title and Bishnupur had to settle for third place. As for the Girls category, Thoubal District claimed the Champion title while Imphal East fetched the Runners Up and Imphal West bagged the third spot. Thoubal District hosted Kho-Kho and Mukna events.
Valinda Huidrom of Bishnupur District and Hemam Malemnganba Singh of Bishnupur District claimed the Champion title of Women's and Men's Single title respectively in the Tennis event of 2nd MOG played at Officers' Club, Lamphelpat.
Imphal West District claimed the Men's Champion title of the Kang event played at Singjamei Kangshang.
