Imphal West District lifted the Team Champion title of Karate event in the second Manipur Olympic Games 2022 held at SAI-STC, Khuman Lampak, Imphal.
Imphal West finished the Karate meet with 4 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze medals while Imphal East took the Team Runners Up with 3 gold, 3 silver, 5 bronze medals. The team championship title was counted with the numbers of gold medals earned by the team and not on points, as per the organising committee rule.
The second Runners Up title was bagged by Kakching for 2 gold, 1 bronze medals while Thoubal got 1 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze, Bishnupur with 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze, Ukhrul with 1 silver and 1 bronze and Chandel got 1 silver medal.
Archery: Imphal East District picked up 7 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals for a total of 14 points in the Archery event held at SAI Takyelpat.
Archers from Thoubal District did a commendable job, finishing on the second spot bagging 4 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze medal while Kakching got the third spot winning 3 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals. Imphal West collected 1 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals.
Archers from Bishnupur, Kamjong, Jiribam, Ukhrul and Churchandpur failed to hit the target, to earn any medal.
Tennis: Ch Bunty Devi of Imphal West claimed the Ladies Open Single title beating compatriot Y Thoibi Devi by 6-2 and 6-0 sets played at Officers' Club, Lamphelpat.
As for the Mens Open Double, the pair of Th Ribhaskar and W Padameshwar of Imphal West bagged the Champion title while the Mixed Double Open title was won by Th Ribhaskar and Ch Bunty Devi of Imphal West.
Shooting: Imphal West District and Imphal East District shooters ended the day, grabbing 2 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze medals each today. Ukhrul District collected 1 bronze medal of the day.
Swimming: Swimmers from Imphal East District swam away with the maximum medal winning 19 gold, 11 silver, 16 bronze medal for 46 points held at the Swimming Pool, Khuman Lampak.
Closing on the second spot are Imphal West District claiming 11 gold, 16 silver, 6 bronze medals for 33 points and Kakching District with 1 silver and 6 bronze medals. Churachandpur collected 2 silver and 1 bronze medals.
Football: Imphal East District took the Champion title beating Churachandpur by 3-1 goals during penalty shootout in the Mens Football played at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong.
Goalless in the stipulated time, the penalty kicks saw Imphal East putting in three kicks from Billy, Giftson and S.Abinash while the lone penalty for Churchandpur was converted by Pauginmuan while three of its teammates failed.
The third place of the Men's category was won by Kakching District beating Imphal West District by 4-3 goals.
Kakching District finished third beating Bishnupur by 3-2 goals in the Women's Football event played at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong.
Hockey: Bishnupur District will meet Imphal East District in the final match of the Men's category of Hockey tomorrow at Hockey Stadium, Khuman Lampak. In the semi final, Bishnupur beat Thoubal by 5-1 goals while Imphal East thrashed Imphal West by 8-2 goals to sail into the final.
As for the Women's category, Imphal East District booked their final berth beating Bishnupur by 4-1 goals.
