Manipur man runs solo marathon in Meghalaya

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma greeted the athlete and presented him with an appreciation certificate.

One Anish Ahamad from Kwakta Municipal Council Ward No VII, Bishnupur district, Manipur ran a Solo Marathon themed ‘Green India, Green North East, Green Meghalaya, Save Forest, Save Wild Life’ at Shillong, Meghalaya on Saturday.

The solo marathon was sponsored by Sheikh Brothers and organised by Green Universal Foundation India. The 40-kilometre-long marathon was set off from the main gate of Assam Regimental Centre (ARC) at Happy Valley, Shillong.

The event was attended by president of Shillong Manipuri Student’s Union Chongtham Thangamba Meetei; National Youth awardee Khangembam Lilachandra from Kumbi, Manipur; and president of Green Universal Foundation India and an international awardee Huidrom Romen.

The marathon culminated at the CM’s Secretariat, government of Meghalaya, where the chief minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma greeted the athlete and presented him with an appreciation certificate.
