The Manipur Cricket Association on Monday distributed kits to its 41 affiliated units to get mentally and physically prepared for the forthcoming tournaments.

With the COVID-19 pandemic easing out a bit, cricket in Manipur is slowly limping back with net practices season being in club premises on regular basis in the state.

Manipur Cricket Association president RK Imo said, “We have been out of practice and tournament for the last five months due to COVID-19 pandemic. Though we have to practice and take precaution following Standard Operating Procedure of the government, we have been thinking how to help the clubs in this hour and prepare the team as one cannot remain idle and must be prepared for any forthcoming tournament.”

He stated that MCA will go for regular tournament once the government and BCCI gives it go ahead signal.

Imo was speaking during the distribution of two sets of bats and ball to its 41 affiliated units under the MNCA Cricket Development Programme at the lecture hall of Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium on Monday. He said that the bats and balls distributed are in par with the quality standard of Ranji Trophy matches.
