Yairipok FC made it to the quarter final beating DLC Heirok by 4-1 goals in the 1st Maipakpi Memorial Trophy 2022 Nine A Side State Level Men's Open Football Tournament played at City Club Playground, Heirok.
Yairipok FC were the clear favourites of the day as they dominated the early proceedings, making precision strikes to enjoy a three goals lead in the first half.
Amarjit Singh made his intention clear when he struck the opening goal in the 16th minute and little later Taj Khan consolidated in the 24th minute to make the matter worse for the home team DLC Heirok.
Wasting no time, Yairipok FC made the leap just before half time whistle when James Singh netted home the third goal in the 30 plus 1 minute to put up 3-0 goals in the scorecard.
Outwitted and cornered, DLC Heirok gave a final thrust and Kafoi managed to chip in with his team's first goal in the 52nd minute. However Yairipok FC let loose furthermore with Nawaz fetching the winning goal in the 57th minute, enroute to the quarter final. Yairipok player Kishan, Jemson and DLC player Biju got yellow cards in the match.
Thoubal FC also proceeded to the quarter final with 2-1 goals win over KMY FC. Denny and Pougba scored a goal each for Thoubal while the lone goal for KMY was fetched by Tom Joseph.
