Liwa Sarei moved into the pre-quarter final beating Chandonpokpi YC by a solitary goal in the DC Chandel Trophy Football Tournament 2021 played at District Sports Complex.
Liwai Sarei, who featured from the second round of the tournament due to bye during the draw of the fixture, struck early in the 3rd minute of play via SH Joyphashing and continued to hold their fort till the final whistle for the victory today.
The Chandonpokpi team who had beaten Hnatham SC in their first match, wasted chances in the game and made the sad exit from the tournament. Liwa Sarei player Sundayson, TH Hdringam and Chandonpokpi player Jaichungrung got a yellow card in the match.
As for the other match, Purum Tampak SC prevailed over Monsang Pantha YCC by 3-1 goals to sail into the pre-quarter final as well.
Marling proved to be the hero for Purum Tampak as he scored all the three goals, two in the first half and one in second half for his hat trick. The lone goal for Monsang Pantha was scored by NG Giles.
The third match saw Chumbang FC defeat Riindamkhu SC by 2-0 goals to move into the pre-quarter final with KH.Ahong scoring both the goals in second half play. Goalscorer KH Ahong and Luingam received a yellow card in the match.
The match between Japhou YC and Mantri Pantha YC saw the former making a 5-1 goals victory. SH. Marconi scored two goals while SH Alfred, W.Strongam and Stephen fetched a goal each. The lone goal for Mantri Pantha was scored by Andre.
