The tournament was inaugurated by additional DC S Khaikhopau Ngaihte in the presence of the officials of Churachandpur district Sports Association and the family of late T Khaikhanlian who donated the trophy.

After the inaugural ceremony, the first match of the 1st division league which was played between Football Club of Zotal (FCZ) and Lamka Football Club (LFC) ended with a 1-1 draw. The date of the final match of the 1st division league will be declared by the last week of May tentatively.

The 1st division league was organised by the Churachandpur District Sports Association (CDSA) affiliated to the All Manipur Football association (AMFA). Along with the Trophy, the winner will be promoted to play in the late Lianboi Simte memorial Super Division league, the winner of which will represent the district at the state league.
