The 47th Northern Area Kuki Sporting Association Manipur (NAKSAM) annual sports meet cum conference which began on January 23 at (L) H Ngailut playground at South Changoubung concluded on Friday.
Hengbung Youth Club lifted the youth football championship trophy after defeating North Changoubung Youth Club 2-1 in the final match while Songpehjang Veteran Team emerged champion in the veteran football beating Lungphou Veteran in the final match on Thursday. South Changoubung women emerged champion in the women's football after defeating Lhangnomphai Youth Club in the final match.
Maohing Youth Club and Taphou Youth Club lifted the men's and women's volleyball champion trophies respectively while J Songtun Youth Club and Maohing Youth were the runners-up respectively.
In the youth football final match, an early two goals from Haosei (5th) and Lunginthang (7th) earned the Hengbung Youth Club the champion trophy after 10 years. N Changoubung Youth Club managed to pull back a goal through Solomon in the 55th minute of the second half.
Haominlun Kipgen of Hengbung Youth Club, Kamboilen Vaiphei of N. Chsngoubung, Bijoy Tamang of Hengbung Youth Club, Thangkhanlen Chongloi of Taphou, and Janggoulen Kipgen of Hengbung Youth Club were awarded the Best Keeper, Best Defender, Best Striker, Best Midfielder and Man of the Tournament respectively while James Doujapao Haokip, MCS, CEO of SHADC Kangpokpi who played for Songpehjang Veteran and Lalminthang alias Hevom of Lungphou Veteran were awarded the best player and senior most player of the tournament respectively.
The closing ceremony was graced by Tongkhohao Kipgen, Special Contractor as Chief Guest on behalf of Saitu AC MLA Haokholet Kipgen while Haokholal Hangshing, ex-Chairman, ADC Sadar Hills and BK. John, chief of Mayangkhang Ningthoupham attended as Functional President and Guest of Honour respectively.
The NAKSAM's 47th Annual Sports Meet cum Conference culminated with the de-hoisting of the flag by NAKSAM President Paokai Chongloi after the prize distribution before the benediction prayer by Songthang Lotzem, Pastor S. Changoubung Baptist Church.
Officials from Satyam Industries Kangpokpi also attended the closing ceremony apart from various village chiefs, Kangpokpi local bodies including KTC, KYU, and various other civil society organizations.
