A late minute goal helped GSYC Lonpi beat MCK Bishnupur by 1-0 goals in the 63rd Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Invitation Football Tournament 2021-22 organised by AMFA at Artificial Turf, Lamlomg Thongkhong on Wednesday.
The first half proved to be a stalemate as teams were rather engrossed in mid tussle rather than taking offensive stands and remained goalless.
The second half proved to be more lively as both teams opened up but were unable to find the precision strike. However, GSYC Lonpi regenerated their tempo and made dangerous inroads, where their luck finally shone in the 80th minute of play when Seikholet netted home the winning goal.
GSYC players Laikholen, Limkhanthang and MCK player Sobhachandra got yellow cards in the match.
In the other matches, YPHU Lalambung drubbed FC Lamjao by 5-2 goals. FC Lamjao surprised its opponent when Th Yaiphaba came up with the opening goal in the 6th minute of play to take the lead.
YPHU came fully charged in the second half play with O Rohit fetching the equaliser in 51st minute and later, N Amarjit consolidated in the 54th minute to gain the lead.
Boosted by the new found confidence, YPHU increased the pace and added two more goals from O Rohit in the 66th minute and N Amarjit in the 74th minute to dictate terms in the game.
Despite getting bogged down by a heap of goals, FC Lamjao made a surge in the 78th minute and got rewarded when Y Umakanta Singh brought up the second goal.
But the danger still lurked for them as YPHU, undeterred by the goal, pushed harder and came up with the winning goal from W Sadananda in the 87th minute.
Three FC Lamjao players U Sarat, N Prameshor, W Bipinchandra got yellow cards from referee Yulung Lungsu for dangerous play.
Symporia Churchandpur held on F4C, Saikul by 1-1 goals to share a point each. Being a new entrant to the CC Meet fold, both teams displayed a frenzied approach for having the larger say in the game and Symporia team managed to take the lead when Paokhongam delivered the opening goal in 2nd minute of play.
But F4C Saikul did not remain idle for long as they came up with the equaliser from Ngugoulal in 13 minute to level 1-1 goals till the final whistle as both teams seemed to remain content with the drawn result.
F4C player Letgoulal and Symporia player Jessie were sent off with direct red cards in 60th minute of play for distasteful behaviour by referee Kh Ranjit while Seigoulal of F4C and T Kapishankhul, Ginsawmliang of Symporia got yellow cards.
In tomorrow's matches, WAFA Wangoi will take on KRFC at 10 am while KYVO will face LYCC at 12.15 pm and SSU Singjamei will meet TRUGPU Nambol at 2.15 pm.
