Okram Rolesh who bagged a gold medal in 2nd WAKO Indian Open International Kickboxing Tournament organised by World Association of Kickboxing Organisation (WAKO) was felicitated by locals of Kabo Leikai at Heirok Part III, Thoubal on Thursday.
Okram Rolesh had won gold medal in the 63.5 kg division of 17-19 age category in the Low Kick (Ring) event of the 2nd WAKO Indian Open International Kickboxing Tournament, 2022 held at Talkatora Indoor stadium in New Delhi from November 2 to 6. The Kabo Leikai Development Association (KDA) along with the locals of Kabo Leikai at Heirok Part III had organised the felicitation programme for the gold medalist at Kabo Leikai LP School.
Okram Rolesh, son of Okram Biro and Okram (O) Ibobi was selected by United Association of Kick Boxing Organisations Manipur to represent the state in the low kick event of the international tournament.
The felicitation programme was attended by social worker Thokchom Dharmendra, Kh Bobby from Thoubal Kiyam Siphai who coached Okram Rolesh, Heirok part II gram panchayat ward member Ningthoujam Manglem along with the members of KDA. During the programme, KDA garlanded Rolesh and encouraged him to achieve greater feats.
On the occasion, social worker Thokchom Dharmendra commended Rolesh for his achievement and extended well wishes for his feat to inspire the youth of Heirok to deviate from drug use and strive for a healthier life. He also handed over Rs 5,000 to Rolesh and assured that he will pay for Rolesh’s flight fares when he goes to participate in international tournaments in the future.
Meanwhile, Parents Association of Thoubal District Amateur Association of Kickboxing Organisation organised a felicitation programme for the players of Thoubal District Amateur Association of Kickboxing Organisation who participated in the 2nd WAKO Indian Open International Kickboxing Tournament 2022, at Thoubal Ningombam Utha Community hall.
The event was attended by BJP Thoubal District president Yumnam Kumarjit as the chief guest, Thoubal District Amateur Association of Kickboxing Organisation president A Ingocha as the president and secretary Sapam Swaminatha as the guest of honour.
It can be mentioned that in the 2nd WAKO Indian Open International Kickboxing Tournament 2022 Manipur bagged 21 gold medals, 16 silver medals and 41 bronze medals and secured 5th position.
