Four cyclists from Manipur to represent India in Asian MTB Championships

Haomom Urbashi will be the first female cyclist from Manipur to represent India in an international Down Hill event.

Four cyclists from Manipur including one female will be representing India in the 28th Asian MTB Championships to be held from October 26 to 29 at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Announcing the news, the Manipur Adventure and Mountain Biking Association (MAAMBA), in a release, stated that Ronel Khundrakpam will be competing in XCO and XCE events, Thotmachan Awungshi in XCR and XCO event while former national champion K Adonis Tangpu will be competing in XCR and XCE events.

It maintained that the lone lady cyclist Haomom Urbashi will be competing in the Down Hill event and she will be the first female cyclist from the state to represent India in an international Down Hill event. 

Moreover, she is going to be one of the first female cyclists of the country to participate in an international Down Hill event, it stated.

India is hosting, for the first time in its history, the Asian MTB Championships and the Manipur Adventure and Mountain Biking Association (MAAMBA) has wished the best to the four cyclists from the state who have worked hard to represent the country during this challenging time, the release mentioned.

Elangbam Bhubaneswar will be the CFI Technical Official in the event, it added.
