The first-ever Pherzawl District Hmar Martyrs Football Tournament was held at Parbung Mini Stadium, Perbung on Friday where cultural items were showcased by Parbung HYA, Parbung Hr Secondary School and Jubilee Standard School Parbung, with an aim not only to popularise sports but also to promote the rich cultural heritage of the community.
Headmaster of JSS Parbung Kapkhanlien delivered the welcome address while HMARTOP chairman Hrilhmingthang concluded with a vote of thanks and presented gifts to special invitees.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Pherzawl district deputy commissioner Joseph Pauline Kamson said that among the tribes inhabiting Manipur, the Hmar community set an example in organising promising and beautiful events.

The DC congratulated the HMARTOP and encouraged them in promoting sports and culture of the community, after he launched the first-ever Pherzawl District Level Hmar Martyrs Football Tournament.
Parbung CHC and Parbung Youth Club opened the first match wherein Parbung Youth Club won the match by 1-0.
Encouraging speeches were also delivered by president SDO Tipaimukh and Vengai I Dinesh Kumar Singh and guest of honour secretary, Parbung Village Authority Lalnisuok Darngawn.
