The stadium is packed and the spirits high, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh tweeted excitedly as Manipur co-host the 131st edition of Durand Cup 2022 at Khuman Lampak main stadium in Imphal for the first time ever on Thursday.
"The stadium is packed and the josh is high. What a great start to the Durand Cup at Khuman Lampak, Imphal," CM Biren tweeted along with a video of the packed stadium.
Biren also tweeted a hearty welcome to Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh who arrived for the opering ceremony of the inaugural Durand Cup match in Imphal. The Union minister was given a warm welcome by Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and his colleagues at the Imphal International Airport.
"Hearty welcome to Imphal, Hon’ble Defence Minister, Shri@rajnathsingh Ji. Looking forward to your gracious presence at the opening ceremony of the Durand Cup in Imphal later today," CM Biren had tweeted.
The Durand Football Tournament or Durand Cup is a football competition in India which was first held in 1888.
