Cooch Behar Trophy: Manipur beat Sikkim, records highest runs victory

Manipur bowler Rojit claimed five wickets for 15 runs from 5.3 overs while Jotin Pheiroijam grabbed four wickets for 28 runs from 10 overs and Aziz Mirza took one wicket.

Manipur recorded its highest runs victory by 412 against Sikkim in the Men's U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy 2021-22 played at Vikash Cricket Ground, Bhubaneshwar on day three.

The third day play saw Manipur resume their overnight second innings score of 81 runs for 1 wickets as Rk Herachandra added 40 more runs to make 63 runs. Once he got out, skipper Jotin Pheiroijam took his place and smacked an unbeaten 124 runs from 104 balls while Suresh Singh remained not out with 108 runs from 185 balls, to put up 334 runs for 2 wickets from 64.5 overs.

Sikkim bowler Abhisek and Purna claimed 1 wicket each.

Chasing the target, Sikkim batsman had a tough time, managing the medium pace bowling from Rojit and skipper Jotin, to put up 91 runs for 10 wickets from 29.3 overs. Md.Arif scored 27 runs from 74 balls while Ankur got 23 runs and Arun fetched 16 runs.

From the Manipur bowlers, Rojit claimed 5 wickets for 15 runs from 5.3 overs while Jotin Pheiroijam grabbed 4 wickets for 28 runs from 10 overs and Aziz Mirza took one wicket.

It can be mentioned that Manipur in their first inning put up 327 runs for 8 wickets and in the second inning, they got 334 runs for 2 wickets(declared), giving them a total of 661 runs.

In reply, Sikkim could muster 187 runs for 10 wickets in their first inning and later in their second inning, they managed 91 runs for 10 wickets, to lose by 412 runs to Manipur.
