The All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) suspended three referees for officiating unauthorised tournaments for a period of two years with immediate effect. The suspended three referees are L Ropendra Meitei, N Amarjit and W Springson.

AMFA in a press statement stated that despite repeated directives against officiating unauthorised tournaments or competitions by its registered referees, the three referees were found to be involved in conducting four a side/seven a side football tournaments held at Sawombung, Imphal East.

The AMFA felt that the three referees were not respecting its directives and hence the penalty of two year suspension from active refereeing was given.
