AFC Thoubal Athokpam beat Muvanlai Athletics by 2-1 goals in the 14th Manipur State League 2021 sponsored by Kh Joykishan Singh and organised by AMFA at Artificial Turf, Lamlong Thongkhong, Imphal East. It was a hard fought game for the teams as neither of them lay idle for an opportunistic moment but going for the kill.

The AFC team who joined the MSL from this edition, leave no stone unturned as the youngsters are raring to go extra miles and they got what they wanted in the 38 minute when old warhorse Sahidur Rahaman makes a leaping header off a cross from Kh Oken to bring up the opening goal for the lead in the first half.

Muvanlai Athletic substitute player Kaiminlen Haokip presents a dangerous look as he makes some swift run in the flank and gets rewarded as well in the 49 minute when he outrun AFC defender to slot home the equalizer to level 1-1 goals.

Muvanlai Athletics goalscorer Kaiminlen makes lots of moves from the flank but lack of support in the middle or missed chances, deny them the lead. Instead it was the AFC team who took the lead from a counter attack with Loyangamba Meitei Akoijam making a cross from the left, finding S Farid Shah, who made a hard volley to the right of the keeper to bring up the winning goal in 89 minute.

AFC players Ng. Peter, S. Farid Shah, Bonison and Muvanlai player Paobilen got a yellow card in the match from referee Th Arun.
