2nd Deven Memorial 9 Aside Football Tournament 2022 kicks off in Moreh

Altogether 16 teams from different parts of Manipur participated in the open football tournament which is organised by Meitei Council Moreh.

The 2nd Deven Memorial 9 Aside Football Tournament 2022 opened at a formal function held at Eastern Shine School playground, Moreh Tengnoupal District. Altogether 16 teams from different parts of Manipur participated in the open football tournament which is organised by Meitei Council Moreh.

YAS & WR minister Letpao Haokip and president of MCM M Thoiba graced the opening ceremony as chief guest and functional president.

Speaking at the programme, Haokip said he will upgrade the playground to standard football pitch if he gets elected in the ensuing state assembly election. He also requested the locals to widen the locality roads so that the area can be turned into a business hub.

Citing Homestay business as an example for providing self-employment minister Letpao Haokip said "Moreh being a gateway to South East Asian Countries we can easily avail the benefits of India's Act East Policy through small scale business ".

Speaking about the importance of sports to divert youths from substance abuse the YAS minister said, _"with a vision of preventing youths from substance abuse, the leaders had been organising sports activities including this football tournament ". He also urge youths to use sport as a tool for personal transformation and character building".

Ingocha-Fc defeated UM-Fc 1-0 in the opening match.

Mr. Mohon (secretary, DFA Moreh), Th Ibungo Meetei (president CWC), Th Pilot Meetei (president YTT), A Lalit Singh (president SDYC), L Nongpok Nganba Meitei (president HERS) and L Brojendro Meitei (secretary SWYC) attended the programme as special guests.
