The 27th Yaoshang Sports Meet, organised by Meetei Council Moreh (MCM) kicked off on Saturday at Eastern Shine Public Ground, Moreh.
Vice- president of MCM, L Tomba lit the torch at Ima Kondong Lairembi Haraobung and the torch rally was run in the heart of the town and concluded at Eastern Shine Public Ground Moreh. ASP of Moreh, M Amit received the torch rally and inaugurated the 27th Yaoshang Sports Meet.
As the chief guest of the opening programme, M Amit stated that the people of the town are now aware of the bad impact of using colours and unnecessary donation of tips on the road.
In the name of Yaoshang festival, drinking of alcohols and playing with colours has been changed to organising sports during the festival periods. Youths should be mould in the right path and MCM has been taking good steps of organising sports during the Yaoshang festival, he added.
The five Meetei Leikais of border town Moreh and Kwatha village youth took part in the sport. The opening match of Football was played between khongnangthaba Leikai and Kwatha village youth.
The opening function was attended by president of ACODOM, Th Budha Meitei; president of KNANL, Th Ibemhal Leima; president of NKCLL, Th Jamina Leima; president of AMSU Tengnoupal district, N Tomba; chairman of MES, Th Ibungo as the guests of honour. The presidents of five Meetei Leikais club also attended the programme as special guests.
