The 21st Karing Ngei knock-Out Football Tournament under the theme ‘Glorify God with your Talents’ was kicked off at Karuangmuan -1 Football Ground, Noney district on Monday.
The sport meet was organised by Karuangmuan -1 Baptist Youth Fellowship and was attended by social worker Poujian Riamei as chief guest and Dinglin Kamei as guest of honour.
The opening ceremony was started with the hoisting of flag by the chief guest and the lighting of ‘Karing Ngei's Torch’ by the guest of honour. Cultural dance and folk songs were performed by the Women Society Karuangmuan village.
In his speech, Poujianlung Riamei said, “Sports bring peace and unity in our society. It also results in a good physique and provides jobs to the youths.”
He said true sportsmanship bears good moral values and more discipline. “Sports is a good medicine that enhances our stamina and mentality,” he added.
He urged all participants not to indulge in intoxications and bad habits and stressed that they should rather possess strong determination to fulfil ones’ dreams. He also thanked the village authority and village elders for developing a good playground.
As many as 17 teams from different parts of Noney district will take part in the tournament.
In the opening Match, Makhuam -2 Football Club beat Karuangmuan -1 ( A) by 2 - 0 goals. In other match, CR GUANG beat Athletic Football Club with 1- 0 goals, while United Brothers football club beat Veteran Club with 8: 1 goals and TRS- FC scored 2 goals to Nungtek Youth Club
