16th Governor's Taekwondo Cup: UTA, PTA players challenge for gold medal

UTA and PTA grabbed four gold medals each on the second day of the16th Governor's Taekwondo Cup, Manipur 2022 held at Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak.

UTA and PTA grabbed four gold medals each on the second day of the16th Governor's Taekwondo Cup, Manipur 2022 held at Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak.

The UTA which was having a tough moment on Thursday, managed to break out of the shell with Ch Jayarag Chanu getting the better of Lanchenbi Thoudam of PTA for the gold and silver medal in the Sub-Junior Girls 18kg bout.

In the Sub-Junior Girls 22kg, N Lingel of PTA took the gold, beating Rk Thoihenbi of KTA while Ak Khristina of BTA and Silheiba Asem of UTA collected the bronze medals. Lamsang also claimed a gold medal in the Sub-Junior Girls 26kg bout when K Velona Chanu beat Holina Asem of KTA while Monisha Sh of UTA and Kh Abenao of HTA took the bronze medals.

The other UTA players who claimed gold medals on the day are Priyadarshini Mayengbam in Junior Girls 49kg, Th Inaobi in Senior Women 49 kg and L Nonglei Khumancha in Junior Boys 48kg.

As for PTA, which was having a great time collecting eight gold medals on Thursday, it added three more gold to their tally with S Tondonba in Cadet Boys 45kg, M Bansika in Cadet Girls 33kg and W Bonorjit in Sub-Junior Boys 21kg.

NSA Khuman Lampak, RTA, IMSTA, HTA, Marjing, SAI RC, Nambol and CTI Sagolband also claimed a gold medal each of the day.
