16th Governor's Taekwondo Cup: UTA crowned Champion, PTA settles for runners up title

The UTA team finished the championship with 13 Gold, 19 Silver and 31 Bronze medals, collecting 3,444 points for the top title.

UTA Yumnam Leikai claimed the overall team champion title bagging 63 medals in the 16th Governor's Taekwondo Cup, Manipur 2022 held at Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak.

The UTA team finished the championship with 13 Gold, 19 Silver and 31 Bronze medals, collecting 3,444 points for the top title while Pakhangba Taekwondo Academy, Thingom Leikai took the Runners Up title bagging 20 Gold, 6 Silver and 16 Bronze medals for 3190 points.

National Sports Academy, Khuman Lampak settled for the third spot winning 10 Gold, 9 Silver and 12 Bronze medals for 1976.

The NSA Khuman Lampak put up a good fight on the last day of the championship, claiming five gold medals to jump their position to the third spot.

In the Cadet Girls 51kg, N.Rebeca beat K.Taniya for the gold and silver medal while Sh. Christina of NSA and M.Sanathoi of UTA fetched the bronze medals. 

The other NSA gold medalists are N.Tomba in Cadet Boys 57kg, Nitesh Waribam in Cadet Boys 49kg, I. Chigkheileima in Junior Girls 68kg, Hafiz Kahtun in Junior Girls 52kg,

UTA players also landed three gold medals of the day with M.Jolika in Senior Women 73kg, Binita L in Senior Women 57kg and M.Parihanba in Senior Men in 68kg.

Th.Tooljit in Sub-Junior Boys 32kg and Lingthoingambi Lourembam in Sub-Junior Girls 24kg also collected a gold medal each for PTA team.

YAS Minister Govindas Konthoujam along with Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th. Satyabrata Singh, Mayang Imphal legislator K.Robindro Singh and Naoriya Pakhanglakpa legislator, S.Kebi Devi graced the closing function and distributed the prizes to the teams.
