16th Governor's Taekwondo Cup: PTA kicks off with 8 Gold medals

As many as 26 Taekwondo Units are participating in the Cup, having 412 Boys and 218 Girls during the four days.

Pakhangba Taekwondo Academy started off on a strong note, bagging four gold medals in the opening day bout of the 16th Governor's Taekwondo Cup, Manipur 2022 which began at Indoor Stadium, Khuman Lampak on Thursday.

Governor LA Ganeshan attended the inaugural function along with Social Welfare Minister H Dingo Singh and Keirao legislator L Rameshwor Meitei.  

As many as 26 Taekwondo Units are participating in the Cup, having 412 Boys and 218 Girls during the four days.

In the sub-junior girls bout of 41kg, Shine Taorem of PTA beat M Victoria of Keishampat for the gold and silver medals while S Monalisha of IMRTA and Th Albina Devi of KTA took the bronze medals.

The other Sub-Junior Girls bout of 38kg saw, Ksh Taisi Devi of PTA claiming the gold beating Silvia Athokpam of UTA while Anjilika Irengbam of UTA and A Dhanashree of BTA settle for the bronze medals. Thangjam Lanchenbi of PTA also bagged a gold medal in Sub-Junior Girls 16kg.

Ichal Longjam of CTI got the better of Priya Thoudam of PTA for the gold and silver medal while Linthoingambi L of UTA and L Berina of Lamshang fetched the bronze medals in Sub-Junior Girls 41kg.

As for the Sub-Junior Boys 18kg, PTA landed their fourth gold medal of the day with Kh Danel beating N Tarabin of UTA while S Benson of UTA and N Dushan Singh of Lamsang took the bronze medals.

The other gold medal winners for PTA are Kh Chanchan in Junior Girls 59kg, Kh Mangal Meitei in Cadet Boys 33kg, Alex Moirangthem in Cadet Boys 65kg above and T Wangamba in Sub-Junior Boys 44kg.

LTA, UTA and SAI RC players also grabbed two gold medals each of the day while HTA, Marjing and NSA Khuman Lampak players bagged one gold medal each.

International players Nongdairel Khaba and Priyadashini took the oath on behalf of all the players
