Hockey Jharkhand made it to the quarter final, beating host Manipur by 4-1 goals in the 12th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship 2022 played at Hockey Stadium, Khuman Lampak on Tuesday.

The Pool B last league match proved to be a keenly contested game as the winner will book a berth to the quarter final and Manipur was eager to have a control over the match, playing in front of its home crowd.

Right enough, the host team cracked the ice after a goalless first quarter, with Mutum Priya Devi scoring from a field goal in the 30th minute to take the lead. However, Jharkhand swarmed out in the third quarter with Binima Dhan fetching the equaliser in 38th minute and later Nisha Minj consolidated with another field goal in the 45th minute to gain the lead.

With competition heating up, Jharkhand calculated their moves and got the opportunity to push ahead from a penalty corner in the 47th minute and Nisha Minj made no mistake in converting into perfection to make 3-1 goals.

Manipur had a hard time trying to hold on Jharkhand in the dying moment of the game and mistakes made them costly as Jharkhand got another goal opportunity from a penalty stroke in the 54th minute and Binima Dhan angled it perfectly to goal, to guide her team to the last eight stages.

Uttar Pradesh Hockey also made it to the last eight stages beating Chhattisgarh Hockey by 8-2 goals from Pool C.

The other teams who made it to the quarter final are Hockey Haryana from Pool A, Hockey Madhya Pradesh from Pool D, Hockey Maharashtra from Pool E, Hockey Chandigarh from Pool F, Hockey Punjab from Pool G and Hockey Mizoram from Pool H. Wednesday will be a rest day and quarter final matches will begin from Thursday.
