Tamei constituency is the most neglected and backward constituencies in the state. It is one of the largest constituencies in the state consisting of two sub-divisions:Tamei and Tousem with above 38,646 voters and above 50000 population and is situated on the borders of Jiribam and Tamenglong in the South, Noney and Kangpokpi in the East, Mao in the North and the Peren district, Nagaland in the west.

Let me bring to your attention that the even in this modern and advance age, the people of this constituency is still deprived of basic amenities like electricity, roads, basic healthcare and education.

Due to lack of proper road and transport facilities, the villagers are often left with no choice but to carry sick persons on the bamboo makeshift stretcher and walk for the whole day to reach the nearest primary health Centre for medical treatment.

These are some of the many problems faced by the people of this constituency. For many decades, the previous governments have totally neglected the people of this region. Therefore, on behalf of the people of this constituency, it is my humble appeal to the present government to look into the needs of this neglected region by allotting a ministerial berth to our local elected representative. This will help in addressing the grievances and needs of the people thereby reducing the disparity between the hills and the plains. Until and unless there is an improvement in such areas it is meaningless to speak of oneness, progress, integrity and development of the state.
