Foundation stones laid for ‘School Fagathansi’ mission
A foundation stone for the “School Fagathansi Mission” initiated by CM, N Biren was laid today at Tamenglong Higher Secondary School today. The mission is being initiated with the objective of bringing quality education in all government-run schools in the State.
The launch programme was attended by ADM of Tamenglong, Kajaigai Gangmei who is also the chief executive officer of ADC Tamenglong as chief guest of the occasion. It also witnessed the attendance of DC Tamenglong, Worshang Hungyo and Zonal Education Officer (ZEO), Tamenglong, Gaidonlung Gangmei as dignitaries on the dais.
It may be mentioned here that both the government-run schools Tamenglong Higher Secondary School and Longmai Higher Secondary School, Tamei were selected for implementation of “School Fagathansi mission” initiated by CM, N. Biren Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, DC of Tamenglong, Worshang Hungyo stated that ‘School Fagathansi’ mission should instead be termed as ‘Teacher Fagathansi’ and ‘Student Fagathansi’. “Usually students studying in government-run schools are from families belonging to low economic backgrounds of the society, and particularly girls’ students are lagging behind with the number of drop outs in a maximum scale,” he said while adding that the reasons may be due to family responsibilities such as taking care of younger ones after their elder brothers or sisters get married amongst others.
Worshang Hungyo also made an appeal to all the female students to study harder than the boys and leave aside all temptations, while also urging the male students to study hard stating they are “privileged.” He further said, “We are talking about development since in comparison to others tribes or districts, Tamenglong has very less officers.”
ADM Tamenglong and chief executive officer of ADC Tamenglong, Kajaigai Gangmei and zonal education officer, Tamenglong Gaidonlung Gangmei also presented speeches on the occasion.

As a part of launch programme of the ‘School Fagathansi Mission’ initiated by CM, N Biren on January 18, foundation stones were laid today in six schools of Thoubal district.
The main function of the programme was held at Sekmai Khumbi High School located under Heirok assembly constituency, organised by ZEO, Zone- iii, Thoubal.
While mentioning that the ‘Go to Village’ mission launched by CM, N. Biren has been a success, Education minister, Th. Radheshyam, in his address as chief guest of the occasion, stated that the ‘School Fagathansi Mission’ is being launched with the objective of bringing improvement and quality education in all government-run schools in the State. “And as a part of it, foundation students are being laid in schools all across the 60 assembly constituencies in the State,” he added.
“Improvement of schools is not confined to developing infrastructures since the most important objective is to see that all the needs of children are met along with providing measures that will ensure their satisfaction,” he said adding that developing an atmosphere conducive to academics is also a prerequisite.
“The objective of the Mission also includes ensuring that children are motivated to develop proper habits and sense of competition along with developing self-confidence,” Th. Radheshyam continued while also adding an appeal to all the teachers to motivate and inspire the students with dedication.
Today’s event was attended by ZEO, Zone-III Thoubal , Arambam Anilkumar as chief guest while DC-Thoubal, N. Bandana and headmaster, Sekmai Khumbi High School, O. Nityai shared the dais as guests of honour.
As a part of the launch programme, foundation stones were also laid in another five schools in the district.
Wangjing-Tentha MLA, P. Brojen laid a foundation stone at Wangjing High School, while the foundation stone at Khangabok Higher Secondary School was laid by local MLA, O Surjakumar. In the meantime, councillor, Thoubal Municipal Council, Ward no IX, W. Ibochouba laid the foundation stone at Ningombam Ideal High School for Thoubal district.
While local MLA, K Meghachandra laid the foundation stone for the mission Yairipok High School for Wangkhem assembly constituency, MLA Abdul Nasir did the same at Lilong Higher Secondary Madrassa.

The foundation Stone for improvement of Moreh Higher Secondary School under the “School Fagathansi Mission” was laid today at the premises of the school by 42 Tengnoupal MLA, D Korungthang.
The programme was also attended by DC Tengnoupal, H Rupachandra Singh and ZEO Tengnoupal, N Arunkumar as guests of honour along with vice chairman, ADC Chandel, Tongpao Mate; member of ADC- Chandel, Lamboi Gangte and SDO-Moreh, Dinesh Kumar were also present at programme.
Speaking at the programme, D Korungthang expressed his appreciation for the State government for giving importance to the Education sector. “Rs. 1crore and 27 lakhs has been earmarked for the improvement of Moreh Higher Secondary School,” he continued while adding that even though he is an opposition MLA, he supports the good works taken up by the present government. “The ‘School Fagathansi Mission’ is an ambitious objective to give renewed thrust towards the improvement of students in government schools, I support any good works taken up by any persons,” he added.
While stressing the needs for proper fencing walls in all the government offices, D Korungthang also assured that he will appeal the government to construct proper fencing wall as mentioned in the memorandum submitted to him by the school authority.
H Rupachandra and N Arunkumar both assured that the district administration will look into the matter of shortage of teachers in the school, while Tongpao Mate expressed his gratitude to the government for including Moreh Higher Secondary School in the first phase of ‘School Fagathansi Mission’.
