AMFA new members constituted president urges cooperation from all sectionIMPHAL | Aug 10
Newly elected president of AMFA, Moirangthem Ratankumar has maintained that it was the love and affection of people and favourable patronage from the government that could provide a firm footing for a new generation of footballers in the state.
He said, the All Manipur Football Association cannot walk alone and need the support of people as well government help, to face challenges and meet the demand of modern football. Many may presume that AMFA is a rich body, which is not the case. Whatever source of income they had collected from players transfer are spent on players themselves like sending teams for national championships, uniforms etc.
Ratankumar further said, the biggest challenge for them was the draining of players with lucrative offers by outside clubs and firms. Of course some of the players found themselves in strong position, grooming themselves well but at the same time it left a large void to the performance of state team in national competitions.
He also added a word of caution for parents and guardians to wary of outside firms which came seeking for scouting talents in the state. There has been many instances earlier in which many boys who had been lured with a promise to train them in big academies or foreign country. But these promises failed to translate into reality leaving the boys and parents in a lurch.
‘We cannot control such kind of action as we do not have the knowledge of the company or firm as they never approach us beforehand. But once things goes wrong, parents and guardians swooped down to the Association and put the blame on us. This is sad thing to happen and we never wanted it to happen again and appeal to guardian to cooperate with All Manipur Football Association’, Ratankumar Singh said.
In the meantime, in the first Executive Council meeting of the newly elected member, the EC had appointed L.Jyotirmoy Roy as general secretary while M.Nilo, L.Naba, Joram Koveo and Kamjathang Haokip as assistant general secretaries.
The Executive Council also Co-opted six members into its fold including Rk.Sanayaima Singh, Md.Zane Khan, Jadavchandra Haobam, Dr.Y.Nandabir Singh, L.Chaoba Devi, L.Nandakumar Singh.
