AMFA reacts strongly against rumour mongers regarding National CampIMPHAL | Aug 3
The All Manipur Football Association came out strongly against a report appearing on social media and vowed to take action if they are irrelevant and misleading.
The AMFA statement came after Bikram Singh Thokchom reported uploading a scanting remark pointing that ‘Eight girls from Manipur from very poor conditions are forced to buy their own costly air tickets to attend the camp in Goa and it seemed the budget allocated by SAI was used by AIFF to pay off expenses as salaries. Why host a world cup when you have no money to look after your own citizen to represent India’.
The AMFA further said, it had come across a post in social media that Bikram Singh Thokchom who claimed to be the chairman of the Soccer Foundation of India and also president of AMMA Football Club, Andro in Thoubal District.
In connection with the above statement made by Bikram Singh Thokchom, the AMFA founnd it as completely baseless allegation, inciting misleading, defamatory, derogatory remarks which tantamount to tarnish the image of AMFA, which has been of lately trying to push Indian football to International level.
The AMFA felt that the report will create anxiety and confusion among the general public and particularly the players and disturbs their performances.
It further said, the AIFF reimburses the fare of all its players attending any coaching camp on submission of actual tickets or boarding passes as this system has been always followed.
The All Manipur Football Association will make further investigation into the matter and take appropriate disciplinary action against Bikram Singh Thokchom.
Mentioned may be made that India is hosting Women’s U-17 World Cup and have shortlisted 35 girls for the training camp.
The competition will begin from September 21 to October 4 with teams from 16 countries. Spain is the defending champion.
