Student found dead in boarding room under mysterious circumstances
SUK shuts down Std. Robarth boarding indefinitely

One student of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary school, Canchipur was found dead today morning in a suspicious manner inside a room of the school boarding located at Canchipur near the school.
The student has been identified as one Ningthoujam Babysana, 13, daughter of N. Tomchou of Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai, Imphal West.
It is said that the school authority informed the victim’s family today about 5 am about the incident. When the victim’s family reached the school boarding, her body was found hanging dead inside a 14-bedded dormitory room.
Singjamei police came for spot enquiry and when a media team tried to get information, they were declined by the school authority and police personnel. Therefore details of the incident are not disclosed to media.
Later, a group of student bodies along with victim’s family and school authority conducted a joint meeting. According to a source, the meeting resolved that while conducting the post mortem one member from each student bodies, civil voluntary organisation, family member will witness the procedure apart from officials.
Later, Singjamei police told IFP that media personnel were not allowed to enter the crime scene to protect the evidences from being tempered. He said the cause of death is still unknown but it will be known after post mortem.
In connection with the suspicious death of the student, a joint action committee was formed today evening at Thangmeiband THAU ground.
In the meantime, raising suspicions over the alleged unnatural death of the girl student, Students’ Union of Kangleipak (SUK) has imposed a shutdown on the activities of the boarding of Standard Robarth Higher Secondary School indefinitely.
Speaking to media during a press meet held this evening at the office of SUK inside Wangkhei Junior High School, SUK president, Dhanakumar Ningthouja said that the death occurred in a suspicious manner as the student was found hanging in her room, which has more than 35 inmates. Furthermore, there were mud stains in her feet and injury marks on her body and her slippers were also missing. Besides, student organisations leaders and media persons who rushed to the spot early morning were denied from entering the scene, the SUK president pointed out.
While intimating that the student body has shut down the boarding with suspicions of foul play, he appealed the guardians to take out their wards from the boarding from Friday itself and warned that they have to bear responsibilities themselves for any unwanted incident happening to them if they failed to do so.
Dhanakumar also urged the government to conduct proper investigation and bring out the truth of the mysterious death at the earliest.
