UKLF points finger at KNA over Moreh KillingKANGPOKPI | Jul 14
The United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) condemned the brutal murder of its 2nd Lieutenant John Gangte, Town Commander of Moreh at Ngamkhai veng and blamed the KNO of continued killing it’s own brethren in a cold blood while most of the leaders of Kuki Revolutionary groups under Suspension of Operation (SoO) were sitting together for bringing political solution with the Central and state government.
The outfit pointed out that it is not the first time that the KNO unleashed reign of terror and creating panic amongst the denizens of Moreh Hill Town.
A press statement signed by T. James, Joint Secretary of the outfit recalled that in the past KNO cadres inhumanely murdered capt. George of UKLF and continued random firing and bombing of civilian resident at Moreh town and asked the leaders of KNO on what intention do they come down in the mainstream in signing SoO with the state and centre Government.
It further said that as per the outfit investigation, it is revealed that John Gangte was ambushed and mercilessly murdered by cadres of KNO under the command of Thahpi alias Thangboi Haokip, OC of KNA Moreh and the assassination was carried out by Thongmang Haokip, Moreh Town Commander, KNA, Hemlen Khongsai, Second-in-Command of Hermon Camp and Seingam Haokip, a cadre and a resident of Chavangphai, Moreh.
The UKLF also appealed to the competent authority to take action against all the perpetrators and the leaders of the responsible group in order to avoid reoccurrence of such unwanted incidents in the future.
According to the FIR report which went viral in social media, at around 12:15 pm on July 13 some cadres of Kuki National Army (KNA) under the command of Thangboi Haokip, OC, Moreh Tactical HQ, KNA brutally and mercilessly murdered John Gangte near Ngamkhai Veng, Ward No.8, Moreh.
It also mentioned details of the murderers as Thongmang Haokip, Moreh Town Command, KNA, Hemlen Khongsai, Second-in-Command, Hermon Camp and Seingam Haokip, KNA Cadre, a resident of Chavangphai, Moreh.
The FIR report request the Officer-in-Charge of Moreh Police Station to arrest the alleged murderers and stated that the dead body of deceased shall not be claim until the culprits are arrested.
Meanwhile, Kuki National Army (KNA) in press statement signed by T.Stephen Kuki, Deputy Secretary, Information and Publicity, Tactical HQ, KNA also condemned the killing of UKLF town commander.
The statement stated that the senseless killing committed in broad daylight is very disturbing and a direct challenge to peace and harmony of the land.
It also said that KNA is concerned about the false allegation of blaming the organisation hand as appeared in social media and termed it dishonest, dumbfounded and baseless.
The KNA finds it very disturbing at the same time conspiratorial and it is highly suspected that the killing of John Gangte to be a business matter or a plot hatched against the organisation as it is evident to the police and CSOs that banned substances(WY) and a pistol was retrieved from the dead body, it added.
It also asked the general public of Moreh why would armed cadres of UKLF based at S.Moljol loiter alone in Ngamkhai Veng later to be found being murder while adding that the whole modus operandi is such that the scheme was planned by a group of incorrigible people to tarnish the image of the organisation.
While extending solidarity to the UKLF, KNA also share the grief and pain of the bereaved family members of John Gangte.
