JAC against bomb blast clarifies
‘No allegations were raised against minister, Karam Shyam’
IMPHAL | Jul 9
‘JAC against the Bomb Blast at Khurai Sajor Leikai’ has stated today that the people of Khurai assembly constituency and the JAC did not give derogatory comments against any political party or any other assembly constituency.
A release issued by the JAC said that it would be better if the residents of Langthabal assembly constituency extend help in providing the rice which were not distributed to Khurai, instead of causing hostility between the two assembly constituencies. People of Khurai assembly constituency and the JAC have not demanded that the MLA of Langthabal assembly constituency must resign, it said. However, it was stated that CAF and PF minister should resign for failing to provide the rice to the public, it added.
The nominee of Khurai assembly constituency had not made any claims that the missing rice are in his custody, it said. However, news of contractor, L. Hemanta who was appointed by CAF and PD, claiming that the rice for five months is in his custody, was published in local dailies on June 24, it added. The contractor has been appointed by CAF and PD, not by the MLA of Khurai, it stated.
On the other hand, concerning the bomb blast that occurred at the residence of Khurai MLA, the CM himself has expressed to media about the possibility of having some connection with the blast and the missing rice, it said. Karam Shyam being the one looking after CAF and PD, the demand that he should resign from his post was raised, it further said. Also, no allegations were raised against minister, Karam Shyam that he is involved in the blast, it added.
However, the department concerned has not done anything till date though CAF and PD minister, Karam Shyam gave his word that action will be taken up against the involved persons within 15 days, it stated. For not living up to his words and being irresponsible, the JAC and the people of Khurai demanded that he should resign, it further said adding no demands were made that the MLA of Langthabal should resign.
The JAC appeals to the people of Langthabal to extend support in making the rice available to the people of Khurai, it added
Meanwhile our reported has added that the people of Khurai assembly constituency today burnt down an effigy of CAF and PD, Karam Shyam today at Tinsid road, Khurai Kongpal near the bridge.
The effigy was torched while demanding that the rice for six months must be distributed to the beneficiaries of the assembly constituency and to withdraw his CAF and PD portfolio, as Karam Shyam has allegedly failed to fulfil his duty.
Protestors chanted slogans “withdraw CAF and PD minister from his portfolio”, “ give rice to Khurai people” and others.
