State cyclist to represent India at 25th Asian Mountain Bike Championship

A 17 year old lad from Manipur, Adonis Khariksing Tangpu has been selected to represent India in the upcoming 25th Asian Mountain Bike Championship to be held from July 25- 29, 2019 at Keferdebian, Lebanon in the Under 18 category.
The class XII student of Demonstration School, Mysore is one of the eight cyclists who will be representing India at the forth coming championship.
Adonis is the son of Dr. Vareishang Tangpu and Glory Tangpu of Peh village, Ukhrul district, Manipur.
He first got his bicycle in 2010, when he was eight years old and started participating in cycling events. He enrolled for cycling training and classes in Cycling Mysuru Training Academy in 2015. His journey began with the academy under the trainer and coach Nagaraj TV and Shivaraj.
He got his professional bike “Giant Revel 2” and won his first gold medal in 2017 representing his school. Since then, there has been no looking back for this young energetic and enthusiastic lad from Manipur.
The first break came in January 29, 2017, when he secured the first position at Under -16 event conducted by Cycling Mysuru, from then on Adonis has maintained his winning spree in under-16 category.
At the Under -18 category conducted by Hubbali Bicycle Club on May 5, 2017, Adonis secured 6th Position. At the 14th State Level MTB Cycling Championship (Under-16) held on 8 September 2018 conducted by KACA, Karnataka, Adonis again secured first position in time trial and mass trial.
His biggest break came at the 15th National MTB Championship (Under -16) conducted by Cycling Federation of India on October 26 -28, 2018 at Pune. In this championship, he won two gold medals -first in Time Trial and first in Mass Start.
Today he has been selected to represent India at the 25th Asian Mountain Bike Championship to be held from July 25- 29, 2019 at Keferdebian, Lebanon in the Under 18 category.
Chairman of Peh Village Council, Shangreihan Kharay expressed appreciation for the great achievement and gave his best wishes for the coming championship.
Banners of support for Adonis for the forthcoming championship has been put up in specific locations of Ukhrul District by the Support Group of Adonis. The support group plans to raise funds for the first ever Tangkhul to compete in the international level. One member of Adonis Support Group, Shimri Raising informed that the group would extend all possible help in every possible way they could.
Wishes are pouring in for this young lad of Manipur as he prepares at Uttarakhand for the 25th Asian Mountain Bike Championship.
