CorCom sends its message on 8th Birth Anniversary
IMPHAL | Jul 8
On the arrival of its 8th Birth Anniversary, the proscribed umbrella organisation CorCom said the organisation pays its revolutionary homage to the brave leaders who gave their lives in the self determination movement of Manipur.
A release signed by convenor, coordination committee, Chaoren stated that the organisation honours those who are standing in support of the movement, and shares their grief in bearing the brunt of the oppression meted out by the enemies. Today, on the 8th Birth Anniversary of CorCom, the organisation sends its highest respects and well wishes to the insurgent groups of Manipur and ‘Western South East Asia (WESEA),’ and the people of the region, it said.
On August 14, 1947, Manipur achieved its independence from the British Empire like the rest of the colonised nations that also gained freedom following the end of Second World War, it said. Also, Manipur having created its own Constitution, held an election on October 18, 1948 as it also created its own National Assembly and became the first nation in Asia to have its own republic, it added.
India, which did not even have its own constitution at that time, called the then king of Manipur at Shillong on September 21, 1949 and by violating all Universal laws forced him to give his signature, it further said adding thus, the people of Manipur was forced to join India and Manipur lost is sovereignty.
India a country being created by British themselves, it inherited the colonial administration based on cast, creed, colour and religion. The formerly independent princely nations which did not want to join India, such as Junagadh, Hyderabad, Kashmir, Manipur, Goa, Sikkim and Tripura were either tricked or threatened or forced to merge into India, it alleged.
The release further stated that after the State was forcefully merged into India, it has now been reduced into a state complete dependency in terms of governance, economy, and social administration. The State has become so backward and poor that the indigenous communities that had been settling together are now facing and existential threat, it said. It has become used to being dependent to such an extent that all facets of its social structure have become degenerated and become lifeless, it added.
Abuse of drugs and alcohols have become rampant; the people have lost its way from the path of development; corruption is everywhere; women are no longer respected; the people have become dependent on imported food, the state has lost its control to foreign administration and the youth are now unemployed, it stated.
“The only means to save ourselves from such an existence is to bring back a self administration and a life of complete independence,” it maintained. Therefore, to restore that liberated existence, the people of this region took up arms and have been fighting against the colonial administration of India for such a long time, it said. To suppress the ongoing war of self determination movement, the colonial government of India has been deploying its army and utilising its full force, it alleged.
It further alleged that several draconian laws have been implemented to allow the ‘Indian Occupation Forces’ to take the lives of many innocents; many have gone missing. Today, it has become apparent to the rest of the world that India has become a country which has committed the highest numbers of Human Rights violations, it added.
Now, India has begun to carry out its final policy to completely absorb this State, it said. To suppress the self liberation movement of the people who are completely different in racial and cultural facets, and make a final resolution to the prevailing conflicts , India has taken up measures for racial assimilation, it stated.
It further said that a massive numbers of non locals and outsiders are continually made to enter this region with the attempt to swallow the indigenous population. For example, in 1950, the Inner Line Permit System was removed from the State so that migrants from the rest of India, and illegal immigrants from Bangladesh could enter Manipur and the rest of the northeastern states, it alleged.
The release further stated that the local indigenous population of Jiribam and neighbouring Assam, have been taken over in numbers by outsiders. Now they have even taken charge of government administration, it said. These tactics became more obvious after BJP came to power at Delhi in the year, 2014, it added.
With their dreams of creating a Hindu Rashtra, the election manifesto of BJP of the year 2014 included Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) for allowing Hindu and Hindu cognates i.e. Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, Buddhists and even Christians to become Indian citizens, it said. The Bill was introduced in the year 2016 for proposal, it added.
