Nagas in State pray for early solution
SENAPATI | Jun 18
Naga ‘tribe hohos’ under the aegis of the United Naga Council (UNC) organised prayer programmes in their respective offices in Naga areas in the state on Tuesday for the settlement of the Indo-Naga peace process at the earliest “based on the unique history of the Nagas and situation”.
The prayer programmes were also held “for the strict adherence of the ceasefire ground rules by the NSCN and the Government of India so as to prevail peace in the region including Indo-Myanmar Naga areas international border”.
The prayer programmes were held in Tamenglong, Ukhrul, Senapati and Chandel.
The UNC organised the prayer programme in Imphal.
Speaking to Newmai News Network after the programmes, president of the UNC, S Kho John, urged the central government “to be bold enough to resolve the nearly century old Naga political problem”.
The UNC chief lamented that the issue continues to drag on for this long. “For how long the Naga people have to suffer?” asked John.
The UNC president, however, said that the Naga people have high hope that the Narendra Modi government will resolve the Naga political issue at the earliest.
John also said that resolving the Naga political issue will bring positive impact in the region. “Once the Naga political issue is resolved peace will reign in the region,” he added.
