KSO set for 24-hour state-wide bandhKANGPOKPI | Jun 6
The 24 hours state-wide bandh called by KSO general headquarter from June 6 midnight till midnight of June 7 demanding unconditional release of ten KSO Gunpi block executives received support and endorsement from various sister organisations, district and block KSO.
The bandh was called against government’s alleged failure in releasing the detained executives of KSO Gunpi Block and government’s negligence in arresting the actual culprit of St. Joseph School, Sugnu arson.
Zomi Student’s Federation (ZSF) general headquarter in a press statement in endorsed and supported the cause of KSO-general headquarter stating that it is deeply concerned with the continued detention of KSO Gunpi block executives in connection with the arson of St. Joseph School, Sugnu.
It also said that the current scenario clearly shows that the KSO Gunpi block executives are “mere scapegoats to cover up the abysmal failure of the police to track down the real culprits.”
Expressing solidarity with the KSO and anticipating positive response towards the demand of KSO, the student body urged the general public to observe the state-wide bandh in the larger interest of justice.
Mizo Zillai Pawl (MZP) Manipur also expressed its support towards the KSO-general headquarters state-wide bandh stir stating that it fails to understand the logic behind the protracted detention of KSO Gunpi Block executives, who even after proclamation of their innocence and giving themselves up responsibly to the police so as to enable the police to conduct free and fair investigation into the arson case of St. Joseph school.
It also said that it is now clear that the police had failed miserably in substantiating their allegations and claims with circumstantial evidences which could prove that the detainees in their custody are the real culprits.
“It is truly unfortunate that due to the incompetency of the police, the KSO leaders are vilified and shamed to no end for a crime which they have not committed and are being used as a mere pawns by the powers to cover up their own inadequacies,” said the student body while urging the concerned authorities to release the detained KSO Gunpi Block executives without any further delay.
Gangte Students’ (GSO) and Hmar Students Association, Churachandpur Joint Headquarters also supported and endorsed the KSO bandh in similar vein and expressed solidarity.
All districts KSO including Churachandpur, Sadar Hills, Tengnoupal, Chandel and blocks KSO including Saikul, Moltam, Singngat, Twilang, Islands, also expressed full support and endorsement towards the 24 hours state-wide bandh imposed by KSO beginning midnight of June 6 till midnight of June 7.
All vehicular movement, business establishment, government offices, and educational institutions will remain closed during the bandh, said KSO source. It also said that only emergency case on medical ground excluding check-ups, doctors on duty, powers, fire service and media will be relaxed from the purview of the bandh.
It further stated that in case of any violation of the bandh and any untoward incident arise out of it, the individual or group concerned and the state government will be solely responsible.
The KSO source also said that if no positive response arrive before the culmination of the bandh, KSO along with its sister organisations, districts and blocks organisations will chalk out intense and sustain the stir.
