K James not disheartened by the resultsIMPHAL | May 25
Indian National Congress (INC) candidate for outer Manipur parliamentary constituency, K James today expressed his gratitude to all the voters who came out and exercised their franchise on April 11 and giving him over 1,52,510 numbers of votes including postal ballots from the people of both the hills and plains.
While speaking at a press meet held at his residence at Sangaiprou, James expressed his due respects to INC party leaders, MPCC president and CLP leaders who put faith on him and gave him ticket to give a fight in the true spirit of democracy to win the seat. The total numbers of votes he received are the true and real votes, he stated.
However, some unidentified armed personnel who came impersonating as voters took charge of the polling stations even barring polling agents from carrying out their duties by not allowing them to enter the polling booths, he alleged.
They were stopped from exercising their works at the polling stations by threatening them not to come out from their respective homes, he further alleged.
These unidentified armed personnel also have not allowed voters to exercise their constitutional right to vote, even asking them to return without casting their votes, he further said adding proxy-voting was done on their behalf without their consent in the hills.
He said, most people are aware of the armed persons who publicly supported the non-INC candidate and capturing of the polling stations in the hill district of Manipur. The election was not conducted in a free and fair manner, he alleged. He definitely would have been elected if the election was conducted in a free and fair manner, he added.
The INC party believes in the practicing real and sincere politics and as such, does not hire or engage member of outlawed groups to do its dirty work, and also being a Christian, using evil forces is a wrong step and bears a great sin to almighty god, he said.
He further said that he would continue working for the welfare of the people and strive to uphold the people’s trust and upon the party.
James further said that he is not disheartened at all by the election results, stating that there are many people who have faith in him and will continue to prepare a good strategy for the future.
He feels indebted for the number of vote people have casted for him, he said adding the love he received can never be repaid, he contended. He further expressed that this is his first and new entry in the political arena. He will gain more knowledge and wisdom in the coming future, he said adding he will support and work for people if he is elected on MP also.
