Private schools ahead but govt schools showing signs of recovery
Pass percentage of 74.60 in HSLC exam, highest since 1973

With a record of highest pass percentage of 74.60 since 1973, education minister, Th. Radheshyam officially declared of results for High School Leaving Certificate examination, 2019 conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM).
Education minister announced the result at the ‘Declaration of result HSLC examination, 2019’ function held at conference hall of BOSEM in the evening today.
He said the pass percentage of the said examination have been increasing gradually with the effort from teachers and students. 2019 HSLC examination pass percentage touched a record since 1973 though in 2001, the pass percentage was recorded as 21 percent which was said to be the lowest in the said period.
BOSEM official said that in 2019 a total of 37,138 students appeared in HSLC examination in the State. Out of the total students appeared, 18,342 male candidates and 18,796 female candidates were appeared including regular and external. Out of the total appeared students 13,882 male candidates and 13,858 female candidates passed.
Altogether 37,138 students appeared in the examination of which eight were expelled for using unfair means and 45 were barred from appearing for impersonation. The pass percentage of boys stands at 75.68 against girls which is 73.72 percent. While boys exceeded the pass percentage, girls secured the top three spots.
In the State, students from Thoubal and Kakching district holds the highest pass percentage of 82.09. corresponding to the two districts, Ukhrul and Kamjong have a pass percentage of 78.02 followed by Churachandpur and Pherzwal with 75.78 percent whereas Tamenglong and Noney passed at lowest percentage of 67.06.
Bhumika Shamurailatpam of Pitambara English School secured the first position. Sophiya Asem of Bright Career Academy and Arvind Maibam of Tiny Tots’ Unique School secured the second position while Moirangthem Julendia Devi of St. Thomas School at the third position.
The pass percentage of Government schools stands at 73.39 percent, aided school 62.07 and private 82.30.
Speaking on the occasion, chairman of BOSEM, Th. Kirankumar said the 2019 examination was conducted with full co-operation among the members of in education sectors. The mark evaluation was conducted under closed-circuit television (CCTV) for the first time in the history of HSCL examination, he said. Private examination centers were cancelled and the authority was apprehensive that the pass percentage might be decreased but it is glad to find that the 2019 pass percentage touched a record of 74.60 since 1973. The results are available on BOSEM website manresults.nic.in.
