Parents clarify against viral photo of deceased babyIMPHAL |May 18
The father of a deceased baby have come out to deny the false rumours being spread on social media that the parents have allegedly murdered their own child after ‘Kuthi’ (an astrological birth chart) of the mother predicted misfortune.
A viral photo of the deceased baby was being circulated on social media claiming that child was murdered by its own parents after it was predicted as per astrology that the mother will die if the child is born. The parent of the deceased child clarified that they had not carried out such an act and stated that it was very unfortunate for them to watch the photo being circulated at social media with such false allegations.
While speaking to a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, Laisangthem Koba, 32 son of L. Ibobi from Langthabal Kunja Makha Leikai claimed that it was very unfortunate and painful to hear such false rumors surrounding the death of his child being spread on social networking sites.
Members of Child Commission led by Bunty Konthoujam who had visited his home had wrongly informed the media that they could not meet the parents of the deceased child, he said.
He said his child was prematurely born in the seventh month. His wife during pregnancy faced problems due to having low levels of amniotic fluid. From the beginning of her pregnancy, his wife was receiving treatment under Doctor Tomba at Maipakpi Hospital since March, he said.
He further said, many tests had been done and medications were administered as the amniotic fluid level of mother was 5.1. His wife was further hospitalised for three days at Maipakpi Hospital, he added. On May 12, his wife was discharge from the Hospital and on same day, he met Dr. Subhash who serves at Little Clinic. The doctor advised him to admit her to Little Clinic on the same day, he said.
He further said that his wife gave birth to the child on the intervening night of May 12 and 13 at around 1.45 am. Due to weakness, the child was kept at NICU but it was declared to have died in the morning, he added. In meantime, they were completely exhausted of running here and there at the clinic so they slept for moment while child was still kept under NICU.
When the child’s mother went to collect the dead body, she could not carry it, he said adding the body was brought out with the help of a nurse by putting inside a box. No illegal acts were carried out against the childbirth, he said. As a parent, it is very hurtful to hear and listen to such an objectionable story, he added. He also clarified that they did not consult any astrologer to read the birth charts of the mother.
He further urged authority concerned to look after the matter and take action upon those who have circulated the false story on social networking sites.
