Nimaichand Luwang apologizes for reaction on Manung Hutna
BJP spokesperson, Nimaichand Luwang today apologized by stating that he was sorry to the people of the State for his reaction during Manung Hutna, a discussion programme broadcasted on Impact TV, a local news channel.
He became furious and reacted against INC spokesperson, Hareshwar Goshwami for his words, “Today I am going to knock on your bald head” during the programme.
Addressing a press meet held at BJP office, Nimaichand Luwang stated that he did not come expecting a heated argument on the programme as the casting of votes was already over.
He thought the discussion would be on poll assessment, he said. However, a heated argument took place amongst the spokespersons of INC, BJP, NEIDP and CPI, he stated. At the discussion table, CPI general secretary, Sotinkumar sat on one corner while he was seated next to him. He said that Sotinkumar spoke first but his turn to speak next was skipped and NIEDP spokesperson spoke followed by the Congress spokesperson. He finally spoke his piece in the fourth place thought he sat next to Sotinkumar, he said.
He further stated the other spokespersons who were taking part in the discussion started raising all kinds of allegations against BJP on the discussion table such as ‘BJP has blocked other political party meeting, BJP has threatened people, BJP did mass rigging etc.’ They also used abusive languages, quoted names directly and made allegations, he said.
He further said that he responded that election has not been conquered by BJP and any issues related to election are in hands of ECI.
He said, “Surprisingly, INC supporter, Hareshwar Goshwami had come prepared for a scene and during the second round of the programme, without giving me a chance to speak, Goshwami stated, ‘Last time you said on ISTV discussion hour that you will slap me, today I am going to knock down on your bald head with my fist.’” Goshwami’s words triggered his anger and made him suddenly react, he said.
He also claimed that after seeing the behavior of CPI and INC spokespersons, he could confirm that BJP inner candidate, RK Ranjan will get success in the election. He also said that Hareshwar Goswami’s action was that of an uncivilized person. He lauded the people of the state for casting the vote with interests and utilizing their franchise.
In the meantime, local residents of 2/23 Heingang Mayai Leikai have expressed that no unlawful activities took place at Leirenjao High School polling station during the inner Lok Sabha election which was held yesterday.
At a press meet held today at Manipur Press Club, T. Santa representing the residents of Heingang Mayai Leikai, stated that former representative of Trinamool Congress at Heingang assembly constituency, P. Saratchandra who is a current member of MPCC, was staying at the polling station, 2/22 Heingang Awang Saya Club.
He had come to the polling station 2/23 attempting to capture the booth but his actions have been covered up and Hareshwar Goshwami made allegations BJP which are false and baseless, he said.
During the polling at 2/23 station, repeated attempts were made to go inside the polling station, he said. He managed to enter and made threats to the presiding officer by asking if he knew who he was and tried to hit the presiding officer, he alleged. At that moment, security came in and took control of the situation. A person who came along with him tried to take the EVM but was stopped by the crowd, he added.
After these incidents, they started shouting and making noise from the other side of the polling station, he said. When one man requested them not to make noises, P. Saratchandra’s companions tried to beat him, he further alleged.
On the contrary, false allegations based on reports submitted by P. Sartchandra were made by Hareshwar Goswami on the discussion programme broadcasted on Impact TV, he said. The people condemn this, he said.
On the other hand, S. Leben who was working as an agent at the polling station 2/23, said that the allegations raised by Hareshwar Goswami concerning unlawful activities happening at the polling station was an attempt to falsely portray the voters of the locality in a bad light. These acts are condemned by BJP workers who were at the polling station, he added.
Concerning the demand to conduct a repoll at the polling station by Congress party, if the presiding officer and others can prove that BJP agents did some unlawful activities, then it will be accepted but false accusations will never be accepted, he said.
