Young voters count on CPI candidate Dr Nara
As the election campaign for inner Manipur parliamentary constituency heats up, a new trend of election campaign has cropped up for the first time in the state. What started out as a mere social media campaign initially has now become a more substantial platform to reach out to the masses.
Some politically conscious youths voluntarily gathered together at CPI candidate Dr Nara’s residence at Singjamei Thongam Leikai today.
Shedding all their differences aside, representatives of major student bodies and youth wing of a political party convened a meeting at Nara’s residence and chalked out strategies to launch massive campaigns for the CPI candidate with strong affirmation that he is the right candidate.
A large number of youths from different parts of the state and students from premiere institutions including Manipur University and DM University attended the meeting, which deliberated on the political life of the CPI candidate. The youths present voiced that Dr. Nara is the right candidate with no criminal records against him and is a clean politician with a firm stand and ideology.
It has become clearer that youths from different corners of the state are up for a change when president of National People’s Youth Front (NPYF), student wing of National People’s Party, Ratika Yumnam has assured that she will mobilise youths of the state, in her own individual capacity, to ensure that CPI candidate in inner Manipur seat Dr Moirangthem Nara wins the election.
Ratika asserted that the voting right of each individual is a ‘weapon’ that can be used effectively in solving the issues of the state in the current political scenario.
Political party like People’s Resurgence and Justice Alliance (PRJA) had openly declared to support and campaign for Dr. Nara. PRJA co-founded by human rights activist, Irom Chanu Sharmila and Erendro Leichombam, a Harvard graduate, has a follower substantial number followers mostly youths.
While recalling that Rajya Sabha MP from Tamil Nadu D. Raja of CPI had addressed the issue of controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill when even the MPs of the state failed to do so during the peak of anti-CAB movement of the people, she lauded the firm stand of Dr Nara and his party which has been focusing on solving issues faced by the state. As such, the NPYF president asserted that CPI is the right party to be supported in the inner Manipur parliamentary constituency.
She conveyed that she was not able to put much effort in support of the CPI candidate earlier as NPP also fielded its own candidate in the outer Manipur parliamentary constituency. As the polling for OMPC concluded on Thuesday, she added that she is also fully prepared to mobilise youths from different corners of the state to ensure that Nara secure the inner Manipur seat.
Taking part in the meeting, Md. Anaaz Khan, a youth from Yairipok, expressed concern on why some individuals within the Meetei community are not supporting the CPI candidate when even the Meetei Pangals have supported him. Dr. M. Nara is the most qualified and deserving candidate to be sent as people’s representative at the parliament, he added.
The youths also affirmed to continue with their campaign throughout the entire 32 assembly segments of inner Manipur parliamentary constituency.
