Guv, CM and Speaker greet on Yaoshang

On the occasion of Yaoshang festival, state top officials Governor Najma Heptullah and chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh and Speaker Yumnam Khemchand has extended their heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur.
Governor on her message said Yaoshang known as Holi elsewhere is celebrated at the onset of spring, which signifies the rejuvenation of the spirit of life. “On the occasion of Yaoshang this year, let us all resolve to pave a way for a better and peaceful Manipur where community respects each and appreciates the space and functions of other communities for a harmonious co-existence” goes the message.
She has also urged all to observe the festival in its true spirit.
Whereas, chief minister while extending his greetings noted that Yaoshang is one of the biggest festivals of Manipur. It is celebrated in singing, dancing and other cultural performances with Thabal Chongba the main highlight of the festival.
Over the years, the festival has also transformed into an occasion for promoting sports and social participation in every Meitei village, Biren has also noted.
The chief minister while joining in the celebration said that Yaoshang has underscored the spirit of harmony and friendship amongst the people in the community.
Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Y. Khemchand also conveyed his wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Yaoshang festival.
A statement from the Speaker stated that Yaoshang (Holi) is one of the greatest of the festival with people from all the over the state irrespective of religion, class or creed taking part in the celebrations. “I wish the people of Manipur a wonderful Yaoshang (Holi) and also to celebrate it with peace and tranquillity,” it added.
