Election notice for Outer (ST) parliamentary constituency released
RO appeals public to extend cooperation for ensuring violence free election

For the upcoming 17th Lok Sabha elections, the official notification for No. 2 – Outer Manipur (ST) parliamentary constituency was released today by the returning officer, DC/DO Thoubal, Haobam Rosita, IAS.
In the election which will be held into seven phases, Manipur’s outer parliamentary constituency is being included in the first phase and scheduled to be held on April 11.
In a press meet held today at her office after the notification was released, returning officer, H. Rosita stated that all the necessary measures have been taken up to ensure that the election is conducted smoothly in a free and fair manner. She further appealed the general public to extend cooperation so that the election is conducted without the occurrence of violence and unwanted incidents.
She further said that starting from today, intending candidates may collect forms for the nomination papers till March 25. The forms will be available at the office of district election officer, DC Thoubal or additional deputy commissioner, Thoubal, she said. The forms which are duly filled by the candidates may be submitted by themselves or their proposers to the returning officer or assistant returning officer at their offices located at Thoubal DC complex, between 11 am and 3 pm on any day, other than public holidays.
Nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at the office of the district election officer, DC, Thoubal on March 26 at 11 am, she said. Notice for withdrawal of candidature may be delivered before 3 pm, March 28, she added.
She further said that the poll will be taken on April 11 between 7 am and 4 pm. The press meet was also attended by assistant returning officer, ADM Thoubal, L. Radhakanta, MCS and other officials.
It may be mentioned that No. 2 – Outer Manipur (ST) parliamentary constituency consists of 28 assembly segments of Manipur. There are eight assembly segments from the valley and the remaining 20 are from the hills.
The eight assembly segments included in outer constituency are 33-Heirok, 34-Wangjing-Tentha, 35-khangabok, 36-Wabagai, 37-kakching, 38-Hiyanglam, 39-Sugunu and 40 –Jiribam. As per sources, the total count of male voters in outer Manipur parliamentary constituency are 4,93,597 while 5,12,606 are females; 11 voters are in the third gender category while the count of service voters are 11,097.
