X-Polo Club trotted into the final edging out MPSC (B) by 3-2 goals in the 29th Governor's Cup Polo Tournament 2019 played at Mapal Kangjeibung.
In the semi-final match, both teams exhibited power gallops and excellent mallet action but X-Polo Club has the last laugh for the victory.
Taking their time, X-Polo Club found their opening in the 5.07 minute with P.Ojit Singh for the lead. However, MPSC (B) were prompt in their reply with Viking Salam fetching the equaliser in 5.39 minute to level 1-1 goals in the first chukker.
The second chukker went goaless and in the third chukker, it was X-Polo Club which made the leap with L.Atangba striking home from a close angle in 3.52 minute to post 2-1 goals.
The momentum of the game reached its zenith in the fourth chukker with MPSC rider seeking the equaliser but X-Polo Club dashed their hope with L.Atangba getting his team third goal in 5.50 minute. MPSC (B) persistent effort paid off in the 7.04 minute when T.Pradeepkumar was able to strike his team second goal but time ran out for the policemen.
In the other semi-final, Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club beat Imphal Riding Club by 3-2 goals to moves into the final as well.
Goalless in the first chukker, Imphal Riding Club made the positive start with N.Ranjan hammering home two goals in 2.38 and 4.35 minute for the lead.
However, Chingkhei Hunba Polo Club geared up in the third chukker with A.Basanta fetching the first goal in 2.40 and later P.Jotin came up with the equalising goal in 3.17 minute. Dominating the game, Chingkhei Hunba increased the pace and it was Th.Kaoba who delivered the winning goal in 7.23 minute.
The final matches including 18th Governor's Cup Women will be played on Tuesday.
