DEO Kangpokpi appeals political parties to adhere to MCCKANGPOKPI | Mar 12
District Election Officer, Kangpokpi appealed all political parties, candidates and all concerned citizens of Kangpokpi district to adhere to the election Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election, 2019.
She advised not to carry more than Rs. 50,000 in cash or above which may be used to induce or bribe the voters while adding that carrying of narcotic drugs, illicit liquor or any kind shall not be permitted and the district administration and the police department has detailed various teams such as flying squads and Static Surveillance Teams as countermeasure to check such activities.
She also said that under the Section 123 (2) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 any direct or indirect interference or attempt to interfere on the part of the candidate of his agent or any other person with the consent of the candidate or his election agent with the free exercise of any electoral right is deemed to be a corrupt practice.
The DEO Kangpokpi further said that as per the 171 B of the India Penal Code, any person giving or accepting any gratification in cash or kind during election process with a view to inducing any person to exercise his or her right in punishable with imprisonment to one year or with fine or both.
She also said that any undue pressure or threat of any kind on the candidate or the voters in the process of election is punishable up to one year with fine or both as per the section 171 C of Indian Penal Code while adding that the District Administration has put in place Monitoring Teams at various locations and citizens are requested to report any kind of violation of any kind to the Sector Office, Flying Squads, Static Surveillance Team, for effective control over such things.
She further stated that the District Control Room is set up to monitor such things and any incidents of violation of Model Code of Conduct can be reported to Ngangbam Romia, SDC (Hq.), Kangpokpi at the Office of the District Election Officer/DC, Kangpokpi.

Meanwhile, third phase training of the Sector Officers and Sector Magistrates was held today at the Multipurpose Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi. Nodal Officer for Training and SDO Kangpokpi Imosana Sorokhaibam, and Election Officer Kangpokpi Chungsat Khongsai gave hands on training to all Sector Officers, Sector Magistrates and Sector Police Officers of the district.
EMV and VVPAT awareness and hands on training were held at various places in the district by the concerned department officials.
The Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur also visited Kangpokpi yesterday to examine the ongoing preparation for the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections, 2019 and held a meeting with the District Election Officer and other District Level Officers of the district at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi.
Apart from DEO/DC Kangpokpi, Lalithambigai K; SP Kangpokpi Hemant Pandey; chief executive officer, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council, T. Manihar Singh; ADC/ADM Lalramsang Infimate; SDOs/AROs, election officers and all district nodal officers of the district attended the meeting.
